US Army Security Agency

The US Army Security Agency (ASA) was a military intelligence organization responsible for intercepting and analyzing electronic communications, such as radio and signals, to gather intelligence during the Cold War era. Its mission was to monitor potential threats, support military operations, and provide strategic information through signals intelligence (SIGINT). Operating from the 1940s until it was integrated into the National Security Agency (NSA) in the 1970s, ASA played a vital role in national security by intercepting communications and decoding foreign signals to inform military and government decisions.
