US Army Air Forces
The US Army Air Forces (USAAF) was the aerial warfare service component of the United States Army during World War II, operating from 1941 to 1947. It was responsible for aerial combat, strategic bombing, transport, and reconnaissance missions. The USAAF played a crucial role in gaining air superiority, supporting ground forces, and conducting long-range bombing campaigns. In 1947, it was reorganized into the independent U.S. Air Force, establishing it as a separate branch of the military dedicated solely to air and space operations.
