Urticaria

Urticaria, commonly known as hives, is a skin condition characterized by raised, itchy welts or bumps. These may appear suddenly and can vary in size and shape. Urticaria occurs when the body releases histamine, often in response to allergens like certain foods, medications, or insect stings, but sometimes the cause is unknown. Stress, temperature changes, and infections can also trigger it. Although usually not serious, the itching can be uncomfortable. Treatment often involves antihistamines to relieve symptoms, while avoiding identified triggers can help prevent future outbreaks. Most cases resolve within hours to a few days.
