Ursids

The Ursids are a meteor shower that occurs annually around December 22-23, caused by tiny particles from the comet Tuttle, which burn up upon entering Earth's atmosphere. As Earth passes through the debris trail, these particles speed in and create streaks of light, called meteors or shooting stars. The Ursids are usually modest in brightness and frequency, with a peak that can produce a few meteors per hour. Though not as prominent as some other showers, they offer a beautiful, quiet display of space debris burning up high overhead during the winter months.
