Urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio

The urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) is a test that measures the amount of a protein called albumin in your urine compared to the amount of a waste product called creatinine. Normally, little to no albumin is present in urine, but increased levels can indicate kidney damage or disease. By comparing albumin to creatinine, this test provides an accurate way to detect early kidney issues, especially in people at risk for conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure. A higher ratio suggests the kidneys may be leaking protein and may need further evaluation.
