Urinary protein tests
Urinary protein tests measure the amount of protein in your urine, helping to detect kidney problems or other health conditions. Normally, kidneys filter waste while retaining proteins that the body needs. When kidneys are damaged or diseased, they may leak protein into the urine. The test involves providing a urine sample, often a first-morning or 24-hour collection. Results can indicate the severity of kidney issues or monitor ongoing treatment. Elevated protein levels may suggest conditions like kidney inflammation, diabetes-related damage, or infections, prompting further evaluation or treatment.
