Urea Reduction Ratio
The Urea Reduction Ratio (URR) is a measure used to evaluate the effectiveness of dialysis, a treatment for kidney failure. It compares the amount of urea (a waste product) in a patient’s blood before and after a dialysis session. By calculating how much urea has been removed, healthcare providers can assess whether the dialysis is working properly. A higher URR indicates more efficient removal of waste, which is essential for maintaining health in people with kidney disease. Typically, a URR of around 65-70% is considered effective.
