Urea-formaldehyde

Urea-formaldehyde is a synthetic adhesive made by combining urea and formaldehyde under heat and pressure. It’s commonly used in manufacturing furniture, particleboard, and plywood because of its strong bonding properties and cost-effectiveness. Once cured, it forms a durable, heat-resistant resin. However, during manufacturing and over time, it can release small amounts of formaldehyde gas, which may cause health concerns for sensitive individuals. Despite this, urea-formaldehyde remains widely used in industry due to its effectiveness and affordability, though efforts are ongoing to reduce formaldehyde emissions in finished products.
