Urban Homesteading Assistance Board
The Urban Homesteading Assistance Board (UHAB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping residents in New York City create affordable, sustainable homeownership. They focus on converting vacant city-owned buildings into cooperative housing, providing residents with resources, education, and support to collectively own and manage their buildings. UHAB promotes community empowerment, stability, and environmentally friendly living, making homeownership accessible to low- and moderate-income individuals who might not otherwise have the chance to own a home in the city.
