Urban hierarchy is a way of organizing cities based on their size, importance, and function within a region or country. At the top are the largest, most influential cities—often capital cities or major economic centers—that serve as hubs for finance, politics, and culture. Below them are smaller cities and towns that depend on the larger cities for services and opportunities.
