UNOVIS

UNOVIS (Ukrainian abbreviation for "Objectivity in Visual Arts") was a pioneering experimental art group founded in 1920 by the Russian artist Kazimir Malevich in Kiev. It aimed to explore new artistic techniques and ideas rooted in Suprematism, focusing on geometric forms, abstraction, and a break from traditional representation. UNOVIS promoted the idea that art should reflect modern life and contribute to societal progress. The group was influential in early 20th-century avant-garde art, encouraging innovation and radical approaches to visual expression during a period of cultural transformation.
