University of Nalanda

The University of Nalanda, founded in the 5th century CE in present-day India, was one of the earliest residential universities in the world. It became a prominent center for learning, attracting students and scholars from various parts of Asia. The university specialized in subjects such as philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, and medicine. It had a vast library and is renowned for its significant contributions to education and culture. Nalanda flourished for several centuries before declining in the 12th century due to invasions. In recent years, efforts have been made to revive its legacy through the establishment of a new Nalanda University.
