UNIVAC

UNIVAC, short for Universal Automatic Computer, was one of the first commercially available electronic computers, developed in the 1950s. It was designed to process data and perform calculations much faster than earlier manual or mechanical methods. UNIVAC used vacuum tubes to handle binary data and could be used for tasks like business data processing, scientific research, and government applications. Its introduction marked a significant step in the transition from manual calculation to automated electronic computing, paving the way for modern computers. Despite its large size and limited capabilities compared to today's devices, UNIVAC was a groundbreaking development in computing history.
