United States Metric Board

The United States Metric Board was a government agency established in 1968 to promote the adoption of the metric system across the country. Its goal was to encourage measurement standardization for commerce, science, and industry, facilitating international trade and reducing confusion caused by differing measurement systems. The board developed educational materials, advised on policy, and aimed to increase public and business understanding of metric units. However, it was dissolved in 1982 due to limited impact, and the U.S. has not fully transitioned to the metric system but continues to use a mix of metric and customary units.
