United States Information Agency (USIA)
The United States Information Agency (USIA) was a U.S. government agency created in 1953 to promote American culture, policies, and values abroad. Its goal was to improve international understanding of the U.S. through cultural exchanges, media, and public diplomacy efforts. USIA organized events, broadcast programs, and disseminated information to foster positive perceptions and counter misinformation about the United States worldwide. The agency was merged into the State Department in 1999, ending its independent existence, but its mission continues through various diplomatic channels.
