The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is a federal agency under the Department of Justice responsible for enforcing the controlled substances laws and regulations. Its main goal is to combat drug trafficking and abuse in the country. The DEA investigates and apprehends individuals and organizations involved in illegal drug activities, regulates the legal manufacturing and distribution of prescription drugs, and provides education and support for drug abuse prevention. By doing so, the DEA aims to reduce the impact of drug-related crime and protect public health and safety.
