United Provinces of New Granada
The United Provinces of New Granada was a short-lived political entity during Mexico's push for independence in 1810-1811. It aimed to unify several territories in what is now Colombia and parts of neighboring countries into a single, independent province to oppose Spanish rule. Although it was an influential step toward independence, it was ultimately replaced by other political entities as the independence movement evolved. The entity reflected early efforts at regional self-governance and resistance against colonial authority during the tumultuous period of Latin American independence movements.
