United Nations Partition Plan

The United Nations Partition Plan of 1947 was a proposed solution to the conflict between Jews and Arabs in British-controlled Palestine. It recommended dividing the territory into separate Jewish and Arab states, with Jerusalem under international administration. The plan aimed to address competing national aspirations and promote peaceful coexistence. Jewish leaders accepted it, seeing it as a foundation for their independent state, while Arab leaders rejected it, opposing the division. The plan ultimately led to increased tensions and violence, culminating in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War following the end of British rule and the declaration of the State of Israel.
