United Farmers of Alberta

The United Farmers of Alberta (UFA) was a farmers' organization and political group founded in 1909 to unite Alberta’s agricultural community. It aimed to promote farmers' interests, improve economic conditions, and advocate for policies like fair prices, rural infrastructure, and cooperative buying. Over time, UFA evolved into a significant agricultural cooperative and, in the 1920s, entered provincial politics, forming the governing party from 1921 to 1935. Today, UFA functions primarily as a cooperative, providing agricultural supplies, services, and advocacy for Alberta farmers and rural communities.
