Union of Horodło
The Union of Horodło, signed in 1413, was an agreement between the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, aimed at strengthening their alliance. It granted Lithuanian nobles certain privileges similar to Polish nobles, promoting unity and cooperation. The union also reaffirmed Lithuanian nobles’ commitment to Christianity and established a closer political and social bond between the two states, fostering mutual support against common enemies. This agreement significantly contributed to the eventual unification of Poland and Lithuania into a single, powerful state.
