Uniform Code Council
The Uniform Code Council (UCC) was an organization that developed and managed standardized barcodes and numbering systems, such as the UPC (Universal Product Code), used widely in retail and inventory management. Established to create industry-wide standards, the UCC helped businesses efficiently identify, track, and manage products across supply chains. In 2005, it merged with other organizations to form GS1, which now maintains global standards for barcodes and product identification, facilitating seamless commerce worldwide.
