Unicentric Castleman Disease
Unicentric Castleman Disease (UCD) is a rare condition where a single lymph node or a small group of lymph nodes becomes enlarged due to abnormal cell growth. It usually causes no symptoms or mild swelling and is often discovered incidentally. Unlike its multicentric form, which involves multiple lymph nodes and can cause systemic symptoms, UCD is localized and often treatable with surgical removal. The exact cause isn’t fully understood, but it involves abnormal regulation of immune cells within the lymph node. Early diagnosis and treatment typically lead to a favorable outcome.
