Unión Democrática Popular

Unión Democrática Popular (UDP) was a left-wing political coalition in Spain formed in the 1970s during the transition to democracy after Franco's dictatorship. It brought together various socialist, communist, and feminist groups committed to promoting social justice, democracy, and workers' rights. The UDP aimed to modernize Spain's political landscape by advocating for greater equality and participating in electoral politics, often challenging more conservative forces. Although it was relatively small and faced political obstacles, UDP played a role in shaping the progressive movement during Spain’s democratization period.
