ungulates

Ungulates are hoofed mammals with either hooves made of specialized keratin or, in some cases, dermal pads. They include animals like deer, elk, cows, pigs, and giraffes. These animals are generally herbivorous, feeding on grasses, leaves, and other plant material. Ungulates are adapted for running and grazing, often having strong limbs and teeth suited for grinding plant matter. They play vital roles in ecosystems as prey for predators and as grazers that influence plant communities. Their diversity ranges from small, antelope-like species to large, towering creatures like elephants and giraffes.
