UNESCO (in relation to snow sports)

UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, aims to promote cultural diversity and heritage worldwide. In relation to snow sports, UNESCO recognizes the cultural significance and historical traditions associated with winter sports practices and alpine regions. It supports preserving unique mountain ecosystems and local customs linked to snow sports, fostering sustainable tourism and environmental conservation efforts. Although UNESCO itself does not govern snow sports, its work helps protect the cultural and natural heritage connected to winter sports areas, ensuring they are valued and preserved for future generations.
