UNECE Water Convention

The UNECE Water Convention, officially known as the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes, is an international agreement that encourages countries sharing rivers and lakes to work together to use and protect water resources sustainably. It promotes cooperation, sustainable management, and the prevention of conflicts over water. The Convention helps prevent pollution, supports flood control, and enhances water security by fostering collaborative planning and data sharing among nations that share water bodies in the UNECE region (Europe, North America, and Central Asia).
