Underwriter

An underwriter is a person or entity that assesses and evaluates the risk of insuring a person, company, or asset. In insurance, they determine whether to provide coverage and at what premium by reviewing information like health, safety, and financial history. In finance, especially in lending, underwriters evaluate a borrower's ability to repay a loan or mortgage. Their goal is to balance offering coverage or loans that are fair to the customer while minimizing the insurer’s or lender’s risk of loss. Essentially, underwriters make informed decisions to ensure that risks are manageable and financially viable.
