Underwater Demolition Team

The Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) was a specialized military unit responsible for underwater reconnaissance, demolition, and clearing obstructions such as mines and barriers. They used skills in swimming, diving, and explosives to prepare the way for amphibious landings and other missions. Originating during World War II, UDT personnel trained in underwater combat and demolition techniques to ensure safe passage for invading forces. Their expertise helped secure beaches and harbors, enabling larger military operations to proceed smoothly. The UDT later evolved into the Navy SEALs, continuing their tradition of advanced maritime special operations.
