UNAMID
UNAMID, the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur, was a peacekeeping mission established in 2007 to help restore stability and protect civilians in the Darfur region of Sudan. It brought together peacekeepers from various countries, combining military, police, and civilian personnel to support a political process, monitor ceasefires, and assist in humanitarian efforts. UNAMID aimed to reduce violence, facilitate peace negotiations, and contribute to long-term development, although its effectiveness faced challenges due to complex conflicts and logistical issues. It officially concluded operations in 2021.
