Ultraviolet

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a type of energy emitted by the sun and artificial sources like tanning lamps. It’s beyond the visible spectrum, meaning we can't see it, but it affects our skin and eyes. UV rays are divided into UVA, UVB, and UVC, each with different effects. UVA penetrates deep into the skin, contributing to aging, while UVB affects the surface, causing sunburn and playing a role in skin cancer. UVC is mostly blocked by the Earth's atmosphere. While some UV exposure is necessary for vitamin D production, overexposure can damage skin and eyes, so protection is important.
