Ulrich’s Disease

Ulrich’s disease, also known as neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2), is a genetic disorder characterized by the growth of benign tumors called vestibular schwannomas on the nerves responsible for hearing and balance. These tumors can lead to hearing loss, ringing in the ears, dizziness, and balance issues. The condition often develops in young adulthood and may also cause other nerve-related problems. It’s inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern, meaning a person with the disease has a 50% chance of passing it to their children. Early detection and management are important to address symptoms and prevent complications.
