Ukrainian State (1918)
The Ukrainian State of 1918 was a short-lived, semi-independent government established during Ukraine’s struggle for independence amid the chaos of World War I and the Russian Revolution. Led initially by Hetman Pavlo Skoropadskyi, it aimed to restore stability and authority in Ukraine, balancing influences from both Germany and internal nationalist movements. Its existence lasted only a few months, ending in November 1918 as political turmoil and shifting allegiances led to its collapse, paving the way for subsequent Ukrainian governments and the eventual declaration of full independence in 1918.
