UIA

UIA stands for Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysm, which is a weak, balloon-like bulge in a blood vessel within the brain that hasn't burst. These aneurysms often develop silently and can be detected through imaging tests like MRI or CT scans. While many remain small and harmless, larger or growing aneurysms pose a risk of rupture, leading to serious brain hemorrhages. Treatment options vary depending on size and location, including careful monitoring or surgical procedures to prevent rupture. Recognizing and managing UIAs is crucial to reduce the risk of life-threatening brain bleeding.
