Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA)

The Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA) was a military organization active mainly in the 1980s, originally formed to support the overthrow of Uganda’s dictator Idi Amin and later involved in internal conflicts. It was composed of government soldiers, former rebels, and members of different ethnic and political groups. The UNLA played a significant role in Uganda’s political upheavals, especially during the rule of Milton Obote. Over time, it struggled with loyalty and internal divisions, influencing the country's stability. Its activities contributed to a turbulent period in Uganda’s history, eventually giving way to new armed groups and government forces.
