UCTE (Union for the Co-ordination of Transmission of Electricity)
The UCTE (Union for the Co-ordination of Transmission of Electricity) was a European organization that managed and coordinated the high-voltage electricity transmission network across multiple countries. Its goal was to ensure the reliable and efficient flow of electricity between nations, maintain system stability, and coordinate cross-border electricity exchanges. By overseeing the interconnected grid, UCTE helped prevent blackouts, optimize power distribution, and integrate renewable energy sources. In 2009, it merged into ENTSO-E (European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity), which now handles these responsibilities across Europe.
