U1 snRNA
U1 snRNA (small nuclear RNA) is a small molecule inside our cells that helps process genetic information. It specifically recognizes and binds to the beginning of instructions in our genes (called pre-mRNA), marking where the cell should cut and join the RNA to make it functional. This step is essential for creating the correct messages that tell the cell how to make proteins. U1 snRNA works as part of a larger group called the spliceosome, ensuring genes are accurately edited before they are used for protein production, thus maintaining proper cellular function.
