U.S. military branches
The U.S. military has six main branches: the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force. The Army handles land-based operations, including ground combat and soldiers' training. The Navy ensures maritime security, controls ships and submarines, and projects power overseas. The Air Force focuses on air and space superiority with aircraft and satellites. The Marine Corps is a rapid-response force, working closely with the Navy for amphibious assaults. The Coast Guard protects U.S. waters, enforces maritime law, and assists in disasters. The Space Force manages space operations, satellite communications, and space-based defense.
