U.S. Information Agency

The U.S. Information Agency (USIA) was a government organization responsible for promoting American values, culture, and policies abroad. It orchestrated international broadcasts, cultural exchanges, and informational programs to foster mutual understanding and positive relations with other countries. Established during the Cold War era, USIA aimed to present America’s viewpoints and counter misinformation. In 1999, USIA was merged into the U.S. State Department, integrating its functions into broader diplomatic efforts. Overall, it served as an instrument to shape international perceptions of the United States through communication and cultural diplomacy.
