U.S. Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations
The U.S. Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (ACIR) was a federal agency established to improve communication and cooperation between federal, state, and local governments. It provided research, advice, and recommendations to policymakers on issues like fiscal relations, local government, and intergovernmental management. The goal was to promote effective governance and address conflicts or overlaps of authority among different government levels. Although it was abolished in 1996, its work contributed to understanding how different parts of government can collaborate efficiently to serve the public better.
