Tysabri
Tysabri (natalizumab) is a medication used to treat multiple sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the nervous system. Tysabri works by blocking immune cells from crossing into the brain and spinal cord, reducing inflammation and nerve damage. It is administered through an intravenous infusion every four weeks. While effective in managing MS symptoms and slowing disease progression, Tysabri can increase the risk of a rare brain infection called PML, so patients are carefully monitored during treatment.
