Tynwald (parliament of the Isle of Man)
Tynwald is the Isle of Man's national parliament, established over 1,000 years ago, making it one of the world's oldest continuous parliamentary bodies. It operates as a bicameral legislature, consisting of the House of Keys (the elected lower house) and the Legislative Council (the appointed upper house). Tynwald passes laws, manages the island’s affairs, and upholds traditions like its annual open-air public session on Tynwald Day. It functions with sovereignty over the Isle of Man, which is a self-governing crown dependency, and balances modern governance with centuries-old customs.
