Tycho's Supernova (Tycho Brahe)
Tycho's Supernova, observed in 1572 by astronomer Tycho Brahe, was a powerful stellar explosion called a supernova. It temporarily brightened the night sky dramatically, outshining other stars, before fading over months. This event was crucial because it challenged the belief that the universe was unchanging. The supernova provided evidence that stars can explode and change, helping scientists understand stellar life cycles. Today, we know it as SN 1572, and remnants of the explosion continue to be studied to learn more about such cosmic events.
