Two Micron All Sky Survey

The Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) was a comprehensive astronomical project that mapped the entire sky in near-infrared light. By using specialized telescopes, it captured detailed images of stars, galaxies, and other celestial objects that are often hidden by dust in visible light. Conducted between 1997 and 2001, 2MASS provided a valuable catalog of objects, helping scientists better understand the structure and composition of the universe. This survey improved our ability to study cosmic phenomena and supported numerous research efforts in astronomy and astrophysics.
