two-dimensional

Two-dimensional refers to something that has only two measurements: length and width. Imagine a flat surface like a piece of paper or a drawing on a screen. It extends in two directions but has no thickness or depth. Things that are two-dimensional can be described using two coordinates, such as position on a grid (like x and y in a graph). In contrast, three-dimensional objects, like a ball or box, have depth as well. Two-dimensional objects are often used in maps, images, and diagrams to represent space in a flat plane.
