Twelver Shi'ism
Twelver Shi'ism is a major branch of Islam that believes in twelve divinely appointed leaders called Imams, starting with Prophet Muhammad's cousin, Ali. These Imams are seen as perfect guides and spiritual successors, entrusted with interpreting Islamic teachings. Twelvers emphasize the importance of lineage, faith, and justice, especially in leadership and religious authority. They also hold that the twelfth Imam, Muhammad al-Mahdi, went into occultation and will return to restore justice. Their beliefs influence their religious practices, rituals, and community life, shaping their understanding of divine guidance and authority within Islam.
