Turkish nobility

Turkish nobility historically referred to the ruling and noble classes within the Ottoman Empire, including sultans, viziers, and noble families who held land and political power. They enjoyed privileges, titles, and social status, often intertwined with the empire’s governance and military. These elites played key roles in administration, culture, and military leadership. After the empire's decline and the establishment of the Turkish Republic in 1923, many aristocratic titles and privileges were abolished, leading to a more egalitarian society. Today, the concept of nobility is largely symbolic, reflecting historical heritage rather than formal social hierarchy.
