Turkish denialism

Turkish denialism refers to the refusal or minimization by some in Turkey of the Armenian Genocide, where an estimated 1.5 million Armenians were killed by the Ottoman Empire during 1915-1923. Despite overwhelming historical evidence and international acknowledgment, certain Turkish officials and groups question or deny that these events constituted genocide, often framing them as wartime casualties or civil conflict. This stance is driven by national pride, political considerations, and fears of legal or territorial repercussions. The denialism remains a sensitive issue, impacting Turkey’s relations with Armenia and the wider international community.
