Turkana Boy
Turkana Boy is a nearly complete fossil skeleton of an early human ancestor called Homo erectus, discovered in Kenya in 1984. Dated to about 1.6 million years ago, it provides valuable insight into human evolution, especially regarding body size, posture, and development. Standing approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall, the skeleton shows features similar to modern humans but also unique traits from early human ancestors. Turkana Boy helps scientists understand how our ancestors grew, moved, and evolved into the species we are today.
