TURBT (Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor)
Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor (TURBT) is a medical procedure used to diagnose and treat bladder tumors. A doctor inserts a thin, tube-like instrument with a camera through the urethra into the bladder. Using a small electrical wire loop, the doctor removes or destroys abnormal growths or tumors inside the bladder. This procedure helps determine if the tumor is cancerous and can often eliminate early tumors. TURBT is minimally invasive, meaning it doesn’t require external incisions, and typically allows for quick recovery, providing both diagnosis and initial treatment in one operation.
