tumor promotion

Tumor promotion is a stage in cancer development where abnormal cells begin to grow more rapidly and form a localized mass. Unlike initial genetic changes that cause cells to become abnormal, promotion involves external factors—such as chemicals, inflammation, or hormones—that encourage these cells to multiply and expand. During this phase, the growth is reversible if the promoting substances are removed, but if the process continues, it can lead to the development of malignant tumors. Essentially, tumor promotion fuels the growth of abnormal cells, advancing them toward potentially cancerous tumors.
